New Book Review
Adventure, mystery, fantasy and history...that is what you will get when you read the first book of the Percy Jackson: The Olympians series, The Lightning Thief. Middle school student, Percy Jackson, has always known he was a little off. A trouble student who has never stayed in one school for very long, Percy gets kicked out his final borading school and on the way to summer camp, encounters the Minotaur. The Minotaur...here in 2005. In a series of events, Percy finally finds out the real story of his unknown father, sets off on a quest to help him...and ends up stopping a full-fledged war of the gods.
I loved the Greek mythology that oozes from this book. It is exciting to think of a world where the gods exist in modern times. We've ordered the other books in the series, so they should be here sometime in late January. The Lightning Thief is also becoming a major motion picture due out in late Winter. Check it out at IMDB!
